Job Title: Landscape Designer

Reports to: Carex Design Group Owner/Landscape Architect

Carex Design Group is looking for a Landscape Designer, but not just any landscape designer. We need a creative superstar who loves solving complex design problems and has a good grasp of basic design concepts.

Summary

Responsible for creating achievable, visually pleasing landscapes for clients. The landscape designer will work with the landscape architect to prepare a winning bid for a contract. The landscape designer must be creative with a strong attention to detail and have strong communication skills to work with clients and the Carex Design Group team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients, professionals in related disciplines, industry vendors and senior landscape architect to plan and design landscaping projects.

  • Gather data about the project site and necessary materials to create a landscape.

  • Prepare site plans, specifications and cost estimates.

  • Prepare visual representations of plans using computer-aided design and drafting software.

  • Ensure that all landscape plans are designed with local and federal environmental regulations in mind.

  • Inspect projects when necessary throughout construction to ensure adherence to plan, schedule and budget, and tour the grounds with the client upon completion.

  • Adhere to design budgets and project schedules.

  • Ensure all appropriate project documentation is created, filed, and updated.

  • Seek new work through marketing and networking activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Competencies Required

Education

Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture.

Position Description

This position manages the planning, design and construction of public park facilities by applying knowledge of urban and recreation planning, architectural and landscape design, sustainable development and best practices in construction to the management of park capital projects.

Typical Duties

METRO NASHVILLE - Metro Arborist - Water Services

Position Description

This position of Arborist will be located in the Metro Water Services Stormwater Division. The primary duty of this position is to help grow and manage Metro Nashville's urban forest. This position will help coordinate Metro agencies involved in tree planning, planting, and protection. The position will also coordinate and facilitate urban forestry efforts with other governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as deemed beneficial to overall programmatic goals. This position will work with the Root Nashville partnership to plant 500,000 trees in Davidson County by 2050. 

The incumbent in this position will work in the field and office environment, which may involve moderate risks and/or discomforts. This position requires some physical exertion and employee must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Employees at Metro Water Services work around the clock to ensure high quality drinking water, and the best in storm water management and wastewater treatment for the residents of Nashville-Davidson County and some surrounding areas. It takes electricians, chemists, engineers, mechanics, information technology workers, customer service representatives and more working together to service more than 197,300 water and 209,500 sewer accounts.

Typical Duties

  • Help coordinate tree related activities between Metro Department

  • Manage Metro's tree inventory and tree tracking software

  • Plan, organize, and oversee tree planting projects

  • Plan and oversee Metro tree maintenance

  • Manage landscaping and maintenance contractors

  • Assist in tree planting, watering, and maintenance

  • Provide community outreach and engagement

  • Develop management plans for Metro's Urban Forest, including pest and disease response

  • Assist in the development of standards, codes, and policies relating to tree planting, preservation, and care
